Cab Repair – Cab Mount Repair
After all the floor pieces and pans etc. were tacked/welded in place the next step was to flip the cab over and beigin work on the bottom. You can see from the pictures it needed quite a bit of rust removal and the mid cross member section was fully rusted out on both sides (more LMC pieces to weld in).
I began by sandblasting the whole bottom rust area and then coating it with Permatex rust converter. Then I welded in the cross member sections and filled any other little holes and rust areas. Once everything was finished welded we set the cab back on the frame to get the cab mounts in place. We set the cab on the new rubber mounts to get the accurate height and then I tacked everything in place.
We then flipped the cab back up on its back and finish welded everything. And finally I sprayed epoxy primer on the bottom. Rubberized undercoating will follow.
