1978 F250 Build Post 14
Engine – 351M Teardown
Now that we got the frame pieced back together and rolled out of the way it’s time to begin work on the 351M. The plan is for a complete teardown and rebuild. Machine work will consist of; bore, hone, crank balance, and having the heads gone through. Build will be all new bottom and top end inner parts (stock except for oversized pistons), lumpier cam, Edelbrock intake, carb, and air cleaner, new ignition components, and headers with Flowmasters. We’re looking for a very mild street build that runs consistent.
The 351M in this truck was not the original one as that had been blown up in the 80s and replaced. We actually have the work receipt for the engine swap as it was done by a local mechanic. We have no real idea of how many miles are on the current engine but the machinist said it looked like it had been run pretty hard.
